Rug assessment in St John’s Wood, Maida Vale and Marylebone
See the piece in its setting
An assessment is an opportunity to discuss the rug as it is lived with: its placement, areas of wear, exposure to daylight and any changes the owner has noticed. A photograph can begin that conversation, but does not replace examining fibres, dyes and construction.
Behnam’s specialist judgement informs the agreed home assessment. The visit is arranged for examination and advice, rather than relying on a routine collection driver to make the specialist assessment. His knowledge of weaving traditions helps explain what is visible and what remains uncertain.
Plan handling as carefully as treatment
Mention stairs, lifts, restricted access and the approximate size of the piece when making an enquiry. If furniture rests on it, explain the arrangement before attempting to lift or move anything. Handling needs can then be discussed alongside the proposed care.
The appropriate response may be specialist cleaning, limited repair or monitoring rather than immediate intervention. Our working process sets out the stages. With 37 years of expertise and three generations of family knowledge, the emphasis is on preservation and clear advice.
Before an assessment
Will Behnam assess the rug himself?
Yes, for an agreed home assessment. Confirm the purpose and arrangements when booking so that the visit meets the needs of the piece.
What should I include in my enquiry?
Your full address, approximate dimensions, the concerns you have noticed and any access information. Photographs of the whole piece, its back and the area of concern can help, but are optional.
Discuss your piece
Use our assessment enquiry form to share your contact details and full address. A description and photographs are optional. You can also email support@orientalrugservices.com. We confirm the arrangements before a visit.
